Being the Mayor of Surprise is more than a title—it's a full-time job that demands dedication, experience, and unwavering commitment. As someone who has dedicated over 21,000 hours of volunteer service to our community and held numerous leadership roles, I understand what it takes to meet the needs of our growing city.

Extensive Experience in Leadership

My journey with the City of Surprise began long before I joined the City Council. For the past four years, I have been honored to serve as the Councilmember for District 2. In 2022, I was privileged to serve as Vice Mayor, where I gained invaluable insights into the workings of our city government. These roles have equipped me to deeply understand our community's needs and the importance of responsive and effective leadership.

In addition to my work on the City Council, I have served as the President of Friends of the Surprise Libraries and Chair of ReadOn Greater Surprise. These positions allowed me to promote literacy and educational opportunities, which are critical for the future of our community. My commitment to public service also includes serving on the Disabled Advisory Commission and chairing events like the Relay for Life of Surprise.

A Strong Foundation in Business Management

My 32 years of experience in business management have provided me with the skills necessary to navigate the complexities of city governance. Managing stress, cost evaluation, improving working conditions, and developing business relationships are just a few areas where my expertise can benefit our city. Before my retirement in 2008, I served as a Vice President and Regional Membership Manager, managing a portfolio of customers with over $86 million in deposits. This experience has given me a solid foundation in financial management and strategic planning.

Commitment to Community and Service

My commitment to our community extends beyond my professional roles. I have been actively involved in various committees and initiatives aimed at improving the quality of life for all residents. As a former member of the Financial Advisory Committee and Long Range Planning Committee in Sun City Grand, I have contributed to strategic planning and financial oversight that benefit our city's long-term prosperity.

I have also coached T-ball for the City of Surprise and served as an official scorekeeper for youth baseball tournaments. These roles have allowed me to support our youth and promote healthy, active lifestyles.

A Vision for the Future

As your full-time mayor, I will bring this same passion and experience to ensuring our city's safety, fostering economic growth, and enhancing our quality of life. Public safety will remain my top priority—I will fight hard every day to ensure that our first responders have the tools and resources they need to be there when we need them most. I will also continue to work on improving our city's infrastructure, from safer intersections to well-connected roads, ensuring that we meet the needs of our growing population.
