As the Primary Race for Mayor of Surprise approaches the finish line, it’s crucial to remember that true leadership is displayed during the campaign for elected office. The tactics employed during these campaigns reveal much about the candidates vying for your vote. Unfortunately, smear campaigns have become a common strategy among newcomers who lack the results, firsthand knowledge, or experience necessary to run for office.

These candidates, often backed by outside interest groups, resort to attacking those with proven track records. They show up at numerous events, take countless pictures, and share them widely, hoping to gain recognition. Instead of focusing on the needs of the city or state, they concentrate on why the other candidates are terrible. Their goal is to divert attention from their lack of a resume suitable for public office. When asked questions, their answers are broad and lack detail. They promise to fix non-existent big problems rather than providing detailed plans.

Why do they do this? Because they are simply reading notes provided by money-backed groups. These groups select candidates they believe will be the talking heads needed to further their agendas. As the race nears its conclusion, the true nature of a candidate's leadership is revealed, and the integrity of their campaign is exposed.
